Neem, Azadiracta indica, is a cooling herb with bitter and astringent tastes. It is best at reducing aggravated pitta and kapha in an individual. Neem leaves are especially known to purify and cleanse blood, having an impact on the liver and skin organs. In Ayurveda, neem leaf acts as a broad-spectrum anti-microbial and is used in Asia for a wide range of infections. Neem is also a common ingredient used in many soap and shampoo products.

Properties and benefits of Neem:

  • Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-septic
  • Neem oil is used for treating skin diseases such as eczema, urticaria, ulcers, skin rashes, & wounds
  • Soothes effects of sunburn, allergies insect bites, damaged and dry skin
  • Reduces hair loss, gray hair, and dandruff (dry & flaky scalp)
  • Acts as a fungicide (kills certain fungi)
