Time required for recipe: 45 mins
Basmati rice 1 cup
Mung dal 1 cup
Water 6-7 cups
Jaggery 1 cup
Cashew nuts raw ¼ cup
Raisins ¼ cup
Ghee 4 tbsp
Grated coconut ½ cup
Cardamom pods 6-8
Wash basmati rice two times.
Soak pinch of saffron in a tablespoon of warm water.
Dry roast mung dal for 3-5 mins till you smell roasted mung dal.
Now add washed rice and 6 cups of water to roasted mung dal.
Let it cook till rice and mung dal is cooked completely. Add extra water, if needed.
Heat ghee in a vessel . Add cashew nut and raisins, Stir fry it for a min.
Add to cooked rice and mung dal and mix it well.
Now add jaggery, coconut and cook for 3-4 min.
Add powdered cardamom and soaked saffron water and turn the heat off.
Serve it hot.
